BERLIN X RIVIERA ART FESTIVAL

1. Who can apply to the festival? We are looking for contemporary artists, collectives and independent publishers from all disciplines (visual arts, print, book art, installation, etc.). Our open call is aimed at both professional artists and students of the visual arts.

2. Is there an entry fee?

Participation is free of charge for students from official partner universities. Professional artists are asked to make a modest contribution towards covering administrative costs. Further details can be found in the Open Call registration form.

3. What support will I receive as a selected artist?

We offer a venue at the historic Citadelle Saint-Elme, professional PR support and access to an exclusive network. Full details regarding the coverage of costs (travel, accommodation and transport) vary depending on the funding situation and will be specified in the individual invitation letter once your participation has been confirmed.

4. How are the works selected?

Die Auswahl erfolgt durch das Kuratoren-Team des Berlin X Riviera Festivals. Wir achten dabei auf eine Mischung aus Berliner Positionen und Künstlern aus der Region Nizza/Provence sowie auf die inhaltliche Passung zum Thema „Print & Publikationskultur“.

5. Can I sell my own publications/zines at the venue?

Yes! Our “Art Book & Print Market” on Sunday is designed precisely for this purpose. All participating artists will have the opportunity to display and sell their artwork, books and zines at the stands provided.

6. Will I receive help with finding accommodation?

We are in close contact with local partners in Villefranche-sur-Mer to arrange discounted accommodation for our artists. Once your participation has been confirmed, you will receive full details of the accommodation options.

7. What technical features does the Citadelle offer?

The Citadelle’s premises offer a wide range of facilities for traditional wall art, projections, sculptures and digital installations. You can specify any specific requirements (electricity, monitors, etc.) directly on the open call form.
